Anyone who has spent any time round here will know of my love of a good Tea dress. I've written about it before so I won't go on too much about just how fabulous this style of dress is {You can have a little read here, should you wish!} but I wanted to share my favourite version of this dress with you!
I spent a lovely few hours being photographed by the superb Georgina Piper on what is basically my doorstep in the Old Town of Hastings. The Sun was shining and the Gulls were singing. It was a perfect Spring day by the seaside!
How amazing is this sign above the water fountain by the East Hill funicular lift? It makes me happy every time I see it.
The Lana dress is based off of a dress worn by Lana Turner in The Ziegfield Girls and is a fairly typical style of the late 1930's through the 1940's. It was my most popular bridesmaid style back in the day and I've made so many versions for myself, I just love it.
It only takes 2 metres of fabric so you can afford to splurge on slightly more spendy fabrics, like this reproduction print here from Fabric Godmother and I would seriously love to make it in a Liberty Tana Lawn one day.
To go with my dress, I made myself a heart shaped beret in scarlet red to match both my lipstick and the red blooms of this print. My daughter says I look like Minnie Mouse, which makes me happier than I could say!
You don't see many of these anymore, but there's a traditional phone box at the top of my road ~ such a perfect red!
