I have ALWAYS loved dressing up and started sewing at the age of 6 when my Great Aunt let me use her very ancient Singer sewing machine! It was love at first stitch and I've been sewing ever since! A chance encounter with a fashion history book in my local library and an obsession with Silver Screen starlets ignited my passion for vintage style and it endures to this day.
My sewing adventures have taken me to fashion school, teacher training, class rooms for young and old alike, pattern cutting and sampling for well known brands and designers, costume production for film, television and stage and most recently, sustainably made bespoke Bridal Couture.
I now teach people how to pattern cut and sew their dream clothes at Tara's Stitch Coven on Patreon and over on my YouTube channel.
I truly believe that we can make the world a better place one stitch at a time and that sewing our own handmade wardrobe empowers us and and takes us on a lifelong adventure of constant learning and creative fulfilment!
I live in a little cottage by the sea in Hastings with my Turkish Angora cat, Ghost and I spend my days sewing, knitting and drinking Earl Grey tea.
